Herpes Outbreak & Cold Sore Management - Episodic Treatment

This prescription contains a compounded medication, which was formulated and created to fit your needs.

Instructions

You have stated that you wish to use a topical medication in order to reduce the severity & duration of herpes outbreaks. The medication you have been prescribed is Acyclovir Cream, which you are to apply topically at the earliest signs of break out. Apply to the affected area up to 6 times daily.

While we respect your choice to use topical acyclovir cream, we want to be clear that oral acyclovir/valacyclovir have been shown in studies to have better efficacy in reducing the duration and severity of outbreaks especially for genital herpes.

Refills

If your symptoms aren't getting better after you start taking the medicine or if you develop new or worsening symptoms such as fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or pain, you should see a doctor in-person and call or message us immediately.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

While Acyclovir is safe to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if you become pregnant or are breastfeeding you should stop taking this medicine, call or message us immediately, and talk to a doctor in-person.

Emergency Side Effects

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

• Red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever
• Wheezing
• Tightness in the chest or throat
• Trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking
